Riverwoods coordinates a student volunteer service-learning program focusing on land stewardship and water resources management projects. The objective of the program is to provide classes and students with the opportunity to enhance their classroom experiences by assisting in field activities that are mutually beneficial to the students and the partner agencies. The program currently involves two SFWMD sites - Riverwoods and Dupuis Reserve, in Martin County. Participants in the program from throughout South Florida have received FAU volunteer credits while removing exotic vegetation, planting native butterfly gardens, creating interpretive trail signage, and assisting in the development of a constructed wetland.
CES also coordinates an Alternative Spring Break Program for college and university students interested in earning community volunteer credits. This year, students from the FAU Honor's College earned 40 community service hours doing a variety of tasks including building a 110 foot boardwalk at Arnold's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
