| Find out about Upcoming Teacher
Workshops in your county!
The Center for Environmental Studies has ongoing Teacher Training
Workshops at various locations in central and southern Florida.
We have worked in partnership with the US EPA, the South Florida
Water Management District (SFWMD) and the US Geological Survey and
other local sponsors since 1997.
The environmental education workshops investigate the Kissimmee
River and greater Everglades restoration projects. The workshops
give teachers classroom lessons and educational resources including
vocabulary, concepts and processes for their students. These hands-on
learning activities and field explorations allow students to apply
the concepts that they are learning to real world scenarios. The
interdisciplinary workshops are correlated to the Florida’s
Sunshine State Standards in science, math, reading and language
arts. The workshops are designed to help teachers prepare their
students for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Tests (FCAT).
